Lake County residents ages 55 and older can get low-cost vaccinations for their pets Saturday, June 11.

The Mundelein Senior Center and Lake County Health Department/Community Health Center’s Animal Care and Control Program will offer the special pet vaccination clinic from 9 a.m.-noon at the Senior Center, 1200 Regent Drive.

Donations of pet food, litter and supplies will also be accepted at this clinic to benefit the Pooch Pantry, a pet food and supply source for needy families.

Pets of those 55 and older will receive a free rabies vaccination at the clinic, but purchase of the rabies tag is required at the time of vaccination. Additional vaccines, tags and microchip costs are as follows:

Ÿ For spayed and neutered pets, a one-year rabies vaccination and Lake County tag will be $10; $20 for a one-year rabies vaccination, tag and distemper shot. Distemper complex only will be $10, with $15 for microchipping.

Ÿ The cost is $50 for a one-year rabies vaccination and Lake County tag for pets not spayed or neutered; $60 for the one-year rabies vaccination, tag and distemper. The charge will be $15 for distemper complex only and $15 for microchipping.

Pets will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis. All animals brought to the clinic must be at least 4 months old. Dogs must be leashed and cats in carriers. Only cash will be accepted. Proof of spay/neuter may be required.
