Buffett lunch auction likely to set new record

OMAHA, Neb. — The price of a private lunch with revered investor Warren Buffett might top last year's winning bid of $2.6 million and set a new record for the most expensive charity item ever sold on eBay.

But even if it doesn't top last year, the auction's beneficiary is still going to be happen because the top bid Thursday was already $2.3 million. After the auction wraps up Friday evening, all the proceeds will go to the Glide Foundation, which provides social services to the poor and homeless in San Francisco.

Buffett spends several hours discussing whatever the winner would like to talk about during the lunch. The only thing the billionaire chairman and CEO of Berkshire Hathaway won't discuss is his next investments.
