Attorney general calls cybercrime urgent problem
HAMMOND, Ind. — U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder says the increasing frequency of Internet-based crime is one of the most urgent and complex challenges the country faces.
Holder spoke Thursday before dozens of law enforcement and business leaders at the Northwest Indiana Cyber Security Summit in Hammond.
The Times of Munster reports Holder said partnerships such as the one in northern Indiana involving federal and local law enforcement groups and businesses are needed to help fight cybercrime in a time of tightening government budgets.
Holder says the staggering amount of money being stolen online every day could threaten national security and the stability of the American economy.
U.S. Attorney for Northern Indiana David Capp tells the Post-Tribune of Merrillville that the criminal threats of the 21st century have no national boundaries.
