Scout builds garden for Belmont Village residents

Local Eagle Scout candidate Nicholas Brucks of Troop 188 in Palatine spent 74 hours planning his Eagle project.

Brucks had 17 volunteers who worked more than 160 hours cutting, sanding, staining, assembling and completing the two new accessible planters and tool caddie for Belmont Village Assisted Living Center. The boxes were placed in a sunny location at the center for use by the seniors.

Both ergonomic garden tools and a selection of flowers and herbs were provided for the seniors to use in planting. The herbs will be used in the center's kitchen for meal preparation.
