Man dies after being pulled from Lake Michigan

CHICAGO — Chicago Fire Department divers pulled a 55-year-old man out of Lake Michigan, but he later died at a hospital.

Fire officials say the man had become wedged between rocks 10 feet deep in the lake.

Department spokesman Larry Langford says the divers were called in early Wednesday after the man went into the water at Belmont Harbor on the city's North Side.

Langford says the Lake Michigan water temperature was in the 50s early Wednesday.

The Cook County medical examiner's office identified the man as Jorge Martinez. He was pronounced dead at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center.
