Ventura joins Sox development staff
The White Sox have hired Robin Ventura, a former all-star third baseman, to check out their minor league farm clubs as a special advisor to Buddy Bell, the team’s director of player development.Ventura will evaluated player performance and report to Bell after visiting each affiliate this summer.#147;Robin#146;s experience and expertise will be invaluable,#148; said Bell. #147;He will serve as a terrific complement to our instructors and minor-league coaching staffs, and I look forward to hearing his thoughts and getting his input as we make player development decisions.#148;Ventura played 16 seasons with the White Sox (1989-98), Mets (1999-2001), Yankees (2002) and Dodgers (2003-2004). He won six Gold Gloves and was a two-time all-star (1992 and 2002).
