Unite to protect traditional marriage

Recently, over 200 citizens gathered in Thompson Center in support of sacramental marriage. The marriage of over 6,000 years given to us by God as his plan to continue his people from generation to generation. We gathered to express the need for the citizens of Illinois to be allowed to speak on this issue in a democratic manner with their vote during the 2012 elections. Traditional marriage is certainly, in my lifetime, one of the most important and far-reaching issues to be discussed and decided.

People from the 31 states that have been allowed to be heard at the ballot box on this critical issue have voted to maintain marriage as one man, one woman. When marriage can mean anything, than marriage means nothing. Those who suffer the most within a family missing either father or mother are the children, who most need the separate and unique talents that both bring to the table.

One asks why is “Springfield,” led by the tribunal of Pat Quinn, John Cullerton and Michael Madigan, afraid to let this happen? Let the people vote, and the chips fall where they may. That is true democracy, the strength of our country.

Signatures from registered voters will be gathered to let this vote occur. Although the petitions will be nonbinding, it will definitely show our elected officials the will of the people of the state of Illinois. Hopefully, the Democratic Party will then begin acting in a truly democratic manner. We can always pray to see this happen. Miracles do occur.
