Lake Villa fest opens Thursday:

Lake Villa’s 11th annual Celebration of Summer will be held Thursday-Sunday, June 9-12, at Lehmann Park, 148 Cedar Ave., on the west side of Cedar between Route 83 and Grand Avenue. The talent show is 6 p.m. Thursday; Teen Night is 6-9 p.m. Friday; on Saturday, the carnival begins at 5 p.m., live music 6-9 p.m. and fireworks are at dusk. On Sunday, the car show is 8 a.m.-4 p.m., the carnival is 10 a.m.-4 p.m. and the cardboard boat races start at 1 p.m.
