Carpentersville man gets 30 years for assault

A Carpentersville man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for sexually assaulting a teenage girl repeatedly over a 14-month period beginning in 2006.

Teodolfo Salcedo-Vazquez, 40, of the 1-99 block of Hickory Drive, was convicted April 13 of six counts of criminal sexual assault and nine counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse stemming from the allegations.

Authorities said Salcedo-Vazquez had sexual contact with the victim, who now is 19 years old, on at least six occasions between July 26, 2006 and Sept. 1, 2007.

When questioned by investigators about the claims, Salcedo-Vazquez acknowledged that he had sexually assaulted and abused the victim, authorities said.

In handing down the sentence Friday, Judge Allen M. Anderson chided the defendant for robbing the girl of her childhood and innocence for his own pleasure, according to the Kane County state’s attorney’s office.

Under state law, Salcedo-Vazquez must serve at least 85 percent of the 30-year sentence. He also must register for life as a sex offender.

The case was investigated by the Kane County Child Advocacy Center and the Carpentersville Police Department. It was prosecuted by assistant Kane County state’s attorneys Debra Bree and Nydia Molina, who are assigned to the child advocacy center.
