Union ads equal to biting one’s own hand
It is getting confusing with commercials airing on both the radio and TV being critical of the public service employee pensions in Illinois. By the constitution, the pensions must be paid as agreed. What the legislature is trying to correct is how the pensions are funded.
These commercials are being supported by the teachers unions, AFSCME and SEIU, which have supported through large monetary contributions, endorsements and votes for the Democratic Party in Illinois. The Democrats have controlled Springfield with little input from the GOP; this shortfall of pensions payments is the failure of the Democratic Party in Illinois.
How can Illinois public service unions produce commercials that are critical of the very political party they support? This is not biting the hand that feeds you, but biting your own hand and saying it feels so good.
