Gambling expansion another state gimmick
Sen. Terry Link wants to expand gambling in Illinois because senior citizens are “going up there (Potawatomi Casino) with our tax dollars, and we have to stop the flow.”
Here is the brilliant plan from our “leadership” to save Illinois: raise the taxes on the dwindling number of companies and productive workers in Illinois (chasing them out does not seem to be of any concern, but we really need to keep the gamblers here), continue to dole out borrowed money to fraud-ridden programs (I know unemployed people who just got back from a Caribbean Cruise), and then expand gambling to get the money back from senior citizens (and others who get government cash, food, housing, health care, etc.).
In the process, we’ll create a handful of food service and janitorial jobs to campaign on, and get out of office with a huge pension and benefits for life before the house of cards comes crashing down. When you stand back and look at it, it’s actually very easy to see how absurd it all is.
We’d be living in a different world if our elected officials worked as hard keeping good manufacturing jobs in this state instead of gimmicks to extract money from citizens.
