Wounded Warrior bicycle ride Saturday in Maple Park
The Wounded Warrior Project is having a Soldier Ride bicycle ride Saturday in Maple Park to raise awareness of, and money for, its work with injured veterans.
The ride starts at 8 a.m. at Kaneland High School, Keslinger and Meredith roads. Registration begins at 6:30 a.m. The cost is $150. Riders pay $25 at signup, and are expected to collect the rest in donations by July 5.
Entrants can choose from 12-, 27- or 52-mile rides.
The group, which began in 2004, works with veterans and supplies adaptive hand cycles, tricycles and bicycles to accommodate injuries and disabilities, as well as unmodified road bikes for those veterans not requiring adaptive equipment.
The cycles and support are provided free.
