Truly a day to celebrate

As a devoted reader of The Herald, and a proud woman married to my wife. I just want to share my joy at being a resident of Illinois as the state takes the first step toward marriage equality.

Dayle and I can now stop carrying notarized documents that give us the power of attorney for each other, and to allow each of us to make medical decisions when we cannot make them for ourselves. It means that we are family for health insurance benefits, and state taxes.

As a wedding and civil union celebrant, I look forward to many years of joyous and exceptional celebrations.
