World’s largest touring grill coming to Elk Grove
The world’s largest touring grill will be rolling into Elk Grove Village June 15 to help raise funds for the local Rotary Club.
The Johnsonville Big Taste Grill will fire Elk Grove High School Park that day and eventgoers will have the opportunity to purchase Johnsonville Brats, fresh off grill, with proceeds benefiting the Rotary Club of Elk Grove.
The semi-truck-sized grill weighs in at 53,000 pounds and measures 65 feet long, 20 feet high and 6 feet in diameter. It has the capacity for 750 brats at a time, or about 2,500 brats an hour.
Since it was first introduced in 1995, as part of Johnsonville Sausage’s 50th anniversary celebration, the Big Taste Grill has helped raise more than $3 million for charitable groups and organizations throughout North America.
Besides local festivals, state fairs and air shows, the grill also has appeared at a number of major events including several Super Bowls, the Daytona 500 and the Kentucky Derby.
