Author, editor Betts in Lincolnshire
Fashion editor and author Kate Betts will appear at the Vernon Area Public Library, 300 Olde Half Day Road, in Lincolnshire, at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 1, to speak and sign her new book, “Everyday Icon: Michelle Obama & the Power of Style.” Betts deconstructs why Michelle Obama’s style matters, and asserts she has helped liberate a generation of women from the idea that style and substance are mutually exclusive. Betts has been covering style for 20 years, as a contributing editor at Time magazine and The Daily Beast and formerly as editor-in-chief of Harper’s Bazaar and the fashion news director of Vogue.
