Retired Carpentersville Fire Chief passes away

Ronald Lee Creek, 74, of Eagle Rock, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, May 25, 2011, in his home surrounded by his family and friends. Mr. Creek was born October 23, 1936, in Webster City, Iowa to John Henry and Zetta (Norton) Creek. He graduated from high school in 1955 in Eagle Grove, Iowa. In the mid 1960's he began his career as a firefighter. In 1977 he left the fire department and moved to Harvey, Louisiana where on April 30, 1983, he married Carol Ronsonette. In 1991 they moved to Carpentersville, Illinois where Ronald began serving as Fire Chief with the Carpentersville-Countryside Fire Department. Ronald and his wife Carol moved to Eagle Rock in 1997 after Ronald retired from his job as Fire Chief in Carpentersville, Illinois. In 1998 they became volunteers for the Eagle Rock-Golden-Mano Fire Department. In 1999 Ronald became the Fire Chief and strived to improve the department and the training of the volunteers. Today the department is one of the best-equipped and well trained departments anywhere. He was also instrumental in bring 911 into Barry County and in creating the Barry County Fire Chiefs Association.

Survivors include his wife Carol; two sons; Steven Creek and his wife, Donna, of Eagle Rock, Missouri, Robert Creek, of Inverness, Illinois, three daughters; Susan Wilson, of Carpentersville, Illinois, Ronda and her husband Doug Reynolds, of Carpentersville, Illinois, and Tina Tolle, of Eagle Rock, Missouri, two brothers; Richard Creek, of Webster City, Iowa, and Robert Creek, of Green Valley, Arizona; 13 grandchildren, and 26 great grandchildren, two nieces and two nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Ricky Creek, one daughter, Cindy Creek; three grandchildren, Billy, Amber, and Ricky Jr, Creek ; two brothers and one sister.

Memorial Services will be held on Sunday, June 12, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Eagle Rock Community Building on Highway 86 in Eagle Rock, Missouri with Jim Clay officiating.

Memorials may be made to the Eagle Rock-Golden-Mano Fire Department, Eagle Rock, Missouri.

Cremation and Memorial services are under the direction of the White Funeral Home, Cassville, Missouri.
