Brighton Garden residents says thanks to students
On May 20, the students of Mid Valley Vocational and residents of Brighton Gardens of St. Charles got together for a thank-you barbecue, hosted by Brighton Gardens.
It was a beautiful day to spend some time outside enjoying the sunshine and the good company. They had a game of bags to top off the afternoon which both residents and students enjoyed.
Mid-Valley’s Transition to Adult Living (ToTAL) Program services students with disabilities between 18 to 21 years old. The program focuses on teaching life skills such as vocational training and volunteerism.
The students participate in on-the-job training within their community to learn work skills and become as independent as possible.
One of their work sites is at Brighton Gardens Assisted Living Community in St. Charles where the students assist twice weekly.
On Mondays, the students help out with the exercise program for residents and on Fridays they assist the residents in shopping at local stores.
