June 13 due date for Kane Metra applications
Applications are due June 13 for people who want to be Kane County’s next representative on the Commuter Rail Service Board — i.e., help run Metra.
A task force will begin reviewing applicants June 16, and present a recommendation to the Kane County Board July 12, according to a prepared statement from Kane County Board Chairman Karen McConnaughay, who is also chairman of the task force.
Applicants must be at least 21, and live in Kane County.
The position pays $25,000, according to the statement released Friday. The task force will ask whether the applicant’s interest in the post would change if the pay or benefits were to be changed.
Send a resume and cover letter to the county board office by mail, fax or email. The office is at the Kane County Government Center, 719 S. Batavia Ave., Building A, Third Floor, Geneva, IL 60134; fax (630) 232-5930; email kmcconaughay@kanecoboard.org.
For details, call (630) 232-5930.
McConnaughay has called for all present Metra board members to resign, in the wake of the Phil Pagano scandal. Pagano was the longtime executive director of Metra who killed himself last year by stepping in front of a train. He had been accused of financial impropriety. Kane’s current representative, former county board member Carol Van Overmeiren, has refused to resign. Her term runs through March 2012.
