Gurnee middle schooler gets special ride to school

Woodland Middle School student Brandon Jones arrived at school in style Friday morning, courtesy of the Gurnee Police Department.

The 13-year-old middle schooler was greeted by his classmates as a squad car pulled up and dropped him off.

Brandon, who has cerebral palsy, won his ride to school after his parents made the top bid through the Woodland Educational Foundation’s benefit auction.

The auction, Woodland Wishes, was held April 16 at the Hunt Club Community Center, and more than $11,200 was raised.
