Elk Grove man dies in Chicago race
An Elk Grove Village man collapsed and died from a heart attack on Thursday during the JP Morgan Chase Corporate Challenge in downtown Chicago.
The man, identified by the Cook County medical examiner’s office as Ralph Nosal, was believed to have been in his 40s.
According to the medical examiner’s office, Nosal’s official cause of death was “coronary atherosclerosis,” which causes clogging of the arteries.
Authorities say he collapsed during Thursday’s race and was pronounced dead.
According to the Corporate Challenge website, the 3.5-mile race had more than 23,000 runners from 635 companies.
