Sky falls in final tune-up
Epiphanny Prince scored 12 points and had 5 steals and Sylvia Fowles added 10 points and grabbed 6 rebounds, but the Chicago Sky lost 66-55 to the host Washington Mystics in WNBA preseason action at the Verizon Center.
The Sky finished its preseason at 1-1 and will open the regular season June 4 at Indiana.
Rookies Courtney Vandersloot, Angie Bjorklund and Carolyn Swords each played significant minutes as they continued to battle for roster spots.
Vandersloot scored 7 points in 23 minutes. Bjorklund, in 15 minutes on the floor, showed her range by shooting 2-for03 from the arc. Swords recorded 2 points and blocked 1 shot in 13 minutes.
The Sky kept the game close through the first half, but the Mystics took command with a 9-point run to close the third quarter.
Forward Crystal Langhorne scored 15 points and grabbed 9 rebounds and veteran point guard Kelly Miller added a dozen points for the Mystics.
