Cougars’ winning streak ends
The Kane County Cougars’ four-game winning streak ended Tuesday night in a 5-1 loss against the Quad Cities River Bandits at Modern Woodmen Park.
Leondy Perez gave up 1 run over 6 innings for his fifth consecutive quality start, but the Cougars’ offense mustered just 3 hits and went 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position.
The visiting Cougars took a 1-0 lead against Kevin Siegrist in the fifth inning.
Lane Adams led off with a walk, stole second, took third on an error and scored on a grounder by Travis Jones.
But that was it for the Cougars. Siegrist (7-1) got the win and has allowed 1 earned run in his last 25 innings.
Perez got a no-decision. The Cougars dropped to 1-5 this season when Perez tosses a quality start.
He allowed the game-tying run in the sixth and scattered 7 hits, walked two and struck out seven.
Jon Keck (0-1) took the loss, yielding a run in the seventh and 3 in the eighth.
