Police: Antioch man caught with 410 grams of marijuana

A 29-year-old Antioch man was caught with more than 400 grams of marijuana during a routine traffic stop in Volo late Sunday afternoon, according to police.

A Lake County Sheriff’s deputy pulled 29-year-old Chad Abbott over at around 4:07 p.m. on Route 12 near the intersection of Route 120 and smelled a strong odor of marijuana in the vehicle during questioning, said Sgt. Timothy Jonites.

The deputy obtained consent to search the vehicle and found 410 grams of marijuana in a cardboard box in the rear of the vehicle, police said.

Abbott was charged with two felonies, possession and possession with intent to deliver, and a misdemeanor charge for possession of drug paraphernalia, Jonites said.

Police said a woman was riding in the vehicle, but was released without charges.

Abbott was also cited for driving with a suspended license, police said.
