Plainfield man convicted in sexual assault of teen

A Will County jury has convicted a Plainfield man of criminal sexual assault of a 15-year-girl at party while host's parents slept nearby.

The jury returned its verdict last week after deliberating four days.

The Chicago Sun-times reports that during the trial, prosecutors contended that 23-year-old Brian Peppers was at a party in February of 2010 when he followed the high school freshman into a bathroom and sexually assaulted her.

Peppers' attorney suggested that the victim did not try to make Peppers stop or call for help.

A judge is scheduled to sentence Peppers in July.
