Chicago truck slams into pedestrians on busy stret

Authorities in Chicago were trying to determine why a city pickup truck slammed into a group of people — several involved in a photo shoot depicting a wedding party — on a street on the city's near North Side.

Police say the accident occurred shortly after noon Saturday in the busy Gold Coast neighborhood. A number of people, including a small child, dressed in formal attire were posing for pictures when they and some others were struck by the truck driven by a Street and Sanitation worker. Authorities say at least one person was critically injured. A spokeswoman at Children's Memorial Hospital says the 2-year-old child was in good condition.

Police say the investigation was continuing and that no charges had been filed as of late Saturday afternoon.
