Polish native new priest in Palatine

A native of Poland who is being ordained Saturday, May 21, as a priest will be assigned to St. Thomas Villanova Parish in Palatine, the Archdiocese of Chicago announced Thursday.

Wojciech Jan Oleksy, 27, from Krynicia-Zdrój, is one of 10 men who will be ordained by Cardinal Francis George at 10 a.m. at Holy Name Cathedral, State and Superior streets in Chicago. The men, ranging in age from 25 to 34, and include three from the United States, three from Mexico and two from Tanzania. Two others are from Kenya and Poland.

In ceremonies held earlier this month at the University of St. Mary of the Lake/Mundelein Seminary, the men received a master of divinity degree. Olesky will have his first Mass 10:30 a.m. Sunday, May 22, at St. Mary of Perpetual Help Parish, 1039 W. 32nd St. in Chicago before beginning service at St. Thomas, 1201 E. Anderson Drive in Palatine.
