North Aurora approves budget
The 2012 North Aurora village budget calls for spending about $1.76 million more than the village expects to take in during the year.
Much of that can be attributed, however, to the cost of remodeling the village hall and former police station, a construction project that is just starting.
The budget calls for $17.16 million in revenue and $18.93 million in expenses.
It expects to get at least $3.44 million in sales taxes, and to receive $105,000 more in income tax than it projects to receive in the 2011 fiscal year. It relies on receiving $3.79 million in property taxes, but that includes taxes for paying debt for the Messenger Public Library, plus taxes collected in tax-increment financing districts and special service areas.
The 2012 fiscal year starts June 1.
The village has budgeted less in rent and less in expenses for the North Aurora Activity Center, as well as less in sales tax rebates. The budget does not contain any money for replacing sidewalks.
It added $25 to the village president’s annual stipend, bringing it to $9,625. It will spend another $150 for trustees; the six of them will divvy up $36,150. The village clerk’s stipend goes up $300, to $6,300.
