Fire damages Naperville construction site
A minor fire on the roof of an under-construction Walgreens in Naperville caused about $5,000 in damages Thursday night, according to fire officials.
A preliminary investigation into the fire on the roof of a Walgreens that is under construction at 1303 Wehrli Road indicated that workers using an open flame on the roof caused the fire, according to the Naperville Fire Department.
The first fire units arrived at the scene just before 9 p.m. Thursday and were able to bring the fire under control within 10 minutes, according to fire officials.
Firefighters removed portions of the roof decking to make sure the fire did not spread and by the time crews left the scene, officials estimated the damage at less than $5,000.
No one was injured during the fire.
