2 bomb threats evacuate St. Charles Walmart
A St. Charles Walmart was evacuated twice ithis week after someone called in two separate bomb threats on consecutive nights, authorities said.
Police suspect the same man called in a bomb threat to the Walmart store, 150 Smith Road., at 12:35 a.m. Monday and again at 12:36 a.m. on Tuesday.
A Walmart employee answered both calls and the store was quickly evacuated both nights, said St. Charles police spokesman Paul McCurtain.
Police responded to the store and searched both the interior and exterior on Monday and Tuesday, but did not find any suspicious items or materials, McCurtain said.
The store was turned back over to store management both nights after the search, he said.
Police said making a false bomb threat is a serious felony punishable by a minimum of two years for each count and a maximum of five years.
The calls remain under investigation and police are asking anyone with information to contact investigators at 630-377-4435.
