White Sox vs. Cleveland Indians at U.S. Cellular Field

Pitching matchups: The White Sox’ Jake Peavy (0-0) vs. Justin Masterson (5-1) Wednesday; Gavin Floyd (4-3) vs. Fausto Carmona (3-3) Thursday. Both games 7:10 p.m.

At a glance: The White Sox opened the season with back-to-back wins at Cleveland, outscoring the Indians 23-13. Since then the Sox have been sliding and Cleveland owned the best record in baseball (25-13) heading into Tuesday’s play. The Indians ranked first in the American League in batting average (.270) and runs scored (200) and they were tied for third in ERA (3.42). Phil Humber initially was supposed to start Thursday, but he has been moved back a day and Floyd goes on regular rest. Peavy makes his second start of the season after coming off the disabled list. In 6 career starts vs. the Indians, Peavy is 1-3 with a 5.00 ERA.
