Cooper's Hawk coming to Arlington Heights

Cooper's Hawk will open a restaurant, retail wine shop, tasting room and full bar in the large building that housed Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen at Algonquin and Golf roads in Arlington Heights, Village President Arlene Mulder announced Monday night.

The location will open in the fall, and at 26,000 square feet will be twice as large as any other Cooper's Hawk site, said Melanie Pierce, the restaurant's director of marketing.

The company's five locations include Wheeling, South Barrington and Burr Ridge. It is adding restaurants in Naperville and Brookfield, Wis. this summer, and Arlington Heights is expected to be its eighth location.

Cooper's Hawk, which opened its first site in 2005 in Orland Park, makes its wine in Countryside. The company produces more than 75,000 cases of wine per year from grapes grown in California, Oregon and Washington, according to a fact sheet. The food in the restaurants is paired with wines.

The company also has a wine club with more than 24,500 members who pay $18.99 each month for a bottle of wine.

Cooper's Hawk will rent the building from Pappas Restaurants, said Mulder, and had signed a letter of intent before Pappadeaux closed in January. In the 1990s, the building housed the Big Kahuna nightclub.

“It's a huge restaurant space, and we are very pleased,” said Mulder. “I am looking forward to seeing cars in that parking lot.”
