Fundraiser to help late mayor’s daughter

Friends have organized a fundraiser for the daughter of late-Waukegan mayor Robert Sabonjian as she struggles with medical expenses related to her treatments for Stage 3 breast cancer. Dana Sabonjian will be the beneficiary of the fundraiser from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 29 at Savannah House restaurant and bar on Route 41 just south of Wadsworth Road in Wadsworth. A donation of $15 is suggested. Hors d’oeuvres will be provided by Savannah House, with a cash bar. Andrea Whitmore and Debra Paravonian Davis are presenting the event. Dana Sabonjian was involved in the fight against child abuse when she was a member of the Gurnee Breakfast Exchange Club and Grayslake Noon Exchange Club. Her political career has included serving as a precinct committeeman in Warren Township and she made unsuccessful runs for Waukegan city clerk and Lake County recorder of deeds.
