Elgin Genealogical Society meets Thursday, May 19

The Elgin Genealogical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 19 in the first-floor meeting room of Gail Borden Public Library, 270 N. Grove, Elgin.

Following a brief meeting, Tom Cheetham will facilitate the evening's activity. Attendees will add or extend the EGS webpage surname list with their own family surnames as far back as possible.

Then as a follow-up to last month's program on beginning a writer's group, everyone is asked to write a short paragraph on one of their family ancestors or a family recollection that is special to them. There will be time to share some of those writings.

All are welcome. Come with your family surnames and an idea about which to write.
