Rapper invitation insults police
Michelle Obama invited the well-known rapper known as “Common” to the White House Poetry dinner last week. the New Jersey State Police union are expressing outrage as it coincides with Police Week and all of the fallen police officers in the line of duty.
One of Common’s songs expresses support for a Black Panther member convicted of murdering a New Jersey state trooper in 1973 and now hiding out in Cuba. Another lyric in the song is to burn President Bush for our part in the Iraq War. Press Secretary Jay Carney said President Obama opposes Common’s lyrics, but said the critics have blown this out of proportion.
Coincidence? Common was also a member of Trinity United church where Reverend Wright presides as minister... now that’s poetic!
