Man found dead in Carol Stream pond identified
A man whose body was found in a Carol Stream pond has been identified, police said Friday.
The body of William Alldredge, 31, of Caspar, Wyo., was discovered by police Thursday morning in a mud-bottom pond near the Ross Ferraro Town Center between Fountain View Drive and Gary Avenue, south of Lies Road.
An officer walking near the Town Center observed some clothing on the west end of the long, horizontal pond when the body was discovered.
Deputy Police Chief Jerry O’Brien said Alldredge had been staying in town with a friend since April.
On Wednesday afternoon, police received a call from Alldredge’s mother who said she hadn’t been able to reach him by phone since she last spoke with him Monday.
Police are unsure if Alldredge took a train, bus or plane to the Chicago area, or if he had been here before. It is still too early to say whether foul play is suspected, O’Brien said.
“We’re trying to determine what he was doing,” he said.
An autopsy performed Friday morning was inconclusive, while toxicology results are pending, O’Brien said.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Carol Stream police at (630) 871-6224.
