Retired Justice Stevens to address NU convocation
Retired U.S. Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens is delivering the main convocation address at Northwestern University School of Law, his alma mater.
Stevens, who turned 91 last month, will deliver the address Friday at the Chicago Theater.
He retired in June 2010 after serving 35 years on the Supreme Court. He's the court's third-longest serving justice.
Stevens is a Chicago native who graduated from Northwestern in 1947.
On Thursday, Northwestern held a symposium, "The Legacy of Justice Stevens," with law school faculty from around the country.
Stevens announced earlier this month that he's writing a memoir entitled "Five Chiefs," about the five chief justices he knew during his long career. The book is set to be released the first Monday in October.
