Hanover Park officer promoted to sergeant
The Hanover Park Police Department announced the promotion of officer Bill Weil to the position of sergeant.
Sgt. Weil was hired by the Hanover Park Police Department July 12, 1999, and has been with the department for more than 11 years. He spent two years in the police department’s Special Operations Group, where he conducted gang and narcotic-related investigations.
Weil spent three years in the Investigations Division, where he was the primary juvenile investigator. He also serves on the department’s Crisis Resolution Team and Recruitment Team.
During his time with the department, Weil has received numerous commendations and recognitions, including two Unit Meritorious Commendations in 2009 for his contributions in clearing several serious felony cases while in the Investigations Division.
He is currently assigned to the Patrol Division, where he works the evening shift.
The sergeant was sworn in at the village board meeting May 5.
