Taxing bodies must live within means
I opened our tax bill and to my complete and utter surprise and disgust we received a $626.47 tax increase over last year’s bill. Since we moved here in 2001 from California we have been hit every year with outrageous tax increases and it is unbelievable that Kane County saw fit to increase property taxes yet again this year.
In reviewing our tax bill we pay into eight different pension funds with the bulk of our taxes going to District 303. In this current economic situation where house and property values continue to decline how can Kane County possibly justify increasing taxes? We should have received a reduction in our taxes this year given the current economic situation.
It’s gotten to the point of being ridiculous and I can guarantee I will fight any further attempt by Kane County to raise taxes — there is simply no justification for this. Let the county and all the pension funds we pay into and the school district learn to live within this current economic situation and cut back just like most everyone else has had to do.
