The open house will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. in the second floor lobby of the Naperville Municipal Center, located at 400 S. Eagle St. Materials will be presented in an open house format; no formal presentation will be provided. City staff will be available during the open house to answer questions about the project.

The purpose of this open house is to showcase the concept plans for the final phase of the project, which involves the reconstruction of the western embankment of Country Commons Park, the installation of a floodwall and connection to the Huffman Street storm sewer system.

About the Steeple Run Watershed Project

Since the devastating flood of 1996, the City of Naperville, in partnership with DuPage County has been working to make improvements to address the flooding potential in the Steeple Run Watershed. The watershed begins east of Naper Boulevard and flows southwest, emptying into the DuPage River at North Central College. The improvements, determined by engineering studies and public input, will modify the drainage in the area and relocate flood waters resulting from major rainstorms to expanded open areas in Country Commons Park and Old Plank Park. The excess water will be temporarily held in these detention areas until the downstream sewers can reasonably accept the flow.

The City of Naperville has been actively working on this multi-phase project for more than a decade. This final phase will complete the project and bring much-needed relief to the residents of Huffman Street.
