Softball game will honor Dennis Lynch

When Fremd’s softball team hosts Palatine on Friday, the teams will stage a “non Hodgkins Lymphoma” day in honor of longtime area coach and teacher Dennis Lynch.

Lynch is the father-in-law of Fremd coach Jim Weaver and Palatine coach Jeff Manz. He is a retired teacher from Rolling Meadows High School who was a head football coach and assistant softball coach.

Lynch was diagnosed with stage IV non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in 2001 and has been battling the slow moving non-aggressive cancer for 10 years.

Through aggressive radiation treatments and chemotherapy Lynch was able to come home last Wednesday after being in the hospital for 14 days.

While at home, Lynch will undergo daily radiation treatments and chemotherapy every few weeks. His determination and strength is getting him through this next hurdle.

Players will wear lime green socks at Friday’s game and there will be raffles and donations for the non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma cure.
