Judson’s Dimiceli earns academic award
Judson University senior softball standout Nicole Dimiceli earned her first postseason accolade Monday when she was named the CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-District team.
Dimiceli was one of only 11 student-athletes chosen for the distinction among all NCAA Division II, Division III and NAIA softball playing schools.
She is Judson’s first CoSIDA all-academic team member and the selection makes her eligible for academic All-American honors. A Lake Park graduate, Dimiceli has a 3.79 GPA and is majoring in Physical Education and Health.
On the field, Dimiceli holds five career and four single-season batting records. She is a two-time NAIA and NCCAA Scholar Athlete and a CCAC All-Academic selection. In her four years, Judson has broken its single season wins record each year and this year she led the Eagles to the program’s first CCAC championship. She is a four-time all-conference selection and a three-time NCCAA All-American.
Dimiceli and the Eagles, who were eliminated from last week’s CCAC tournament in two games, leave today for the NCCAA National Tournament in Boutetort, Va. Judson (32-16) is the No. 7 seed in the eight-team tournament and will open play Thursday against No. 2 Simpson University of California (25-16).
