Resentencing on track for Conrad Black

The resentencing of former media mogul Conrad Black is still on track for next month.

Black appeared before Judge Amy St. Eve during a 10-minute hearing in federal court on Monday in Chicago.

The 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals last year reversed two of Black’s fraud convictions, citing a U.S. Supreme Court ruling curtailing disputed “honest services” laws.

But the appellate court also upheld two convictions and St. Eve said Monday she still plans on resentencing Black June 24.

Black has asked the U.S. Supreme Court to hear an appeal on the two remaining charges. But the high court hasn’t said whether it will hear the case.

Black’s media empire once included the Chicago Sun-Times, The Daily Telegraph of London and smaller papers across the U.S. and Canada.
