Morris man dies when vehicle hits tractor

MORRIS — Authorities in Grundy County are investigating after a motorist struck a tractor, killing a worker who was sitting in the tractor's bucket.

WSPL Radio reports that 27-year-old Derek Posey of Morris was pronounced dead Monday.

Coroner John Callahan says Posey was putting in community service hours for the Department of Natural Resources at Stratton Park when the accident happened.

Co-workers say Posey and two other workers were sitting in the tractor's bucket while on a break.

Callahan says all three were ejected from the bucket when it was hit by a motorist. Posey was killed instantly.
