Had enough with Illinois taxes

Congratulations. Between Governor Quinn taking an additional $200 a month with his 66 percent tax hike and governments continually raising my property taxes as the value of my property has diminished by 25 percent, I give up.

You have finally forced me to look to another state to live and away from my family and friends to try and make a living. I suppose I should be grateful to you for finally bringing down the taxable fair market value of my home for the first time since I’ve lived here (although you are still $34,000 over what my recently appraised house is worth. I guess it was foolish on my part to expect a decrease in my taxes, but lo and behold, you simply raised my tax multiplier so I am actually paying more than last year).

Like many others, I was unemployed for 11 months. I am once again gainfully employed and trying to dig myself out of the hole caused by, among many other things beyond my control, bureaucrats who ask us to cut back and save, while you continue your merry spending on new buildings, recreational facilities, and giveaways to the poor, on the backs of those of us in the middle class, who are certainly a vanishing breed.

There are no less than nine pension funds that are included in my taxes, which I feel are not my responsibility to fund. Fifty seven percent of my taxes go to a school district that I have not, and will never take advantage of, as I have no children. The performance of these schools, by the way, is less than stellar.

My future Governor Walker of Wisconsin is setting his state right, and acting on behalf of the people he represents. Good riddance as you spend this once proud Land of Lincoln into oblivion.
