No one injured in Palatine gas station fire

No one was injured during a minor fire in the back room of a Palatine gas station Sunday afternoon, according to fire officials.

The Palatine Fire Department responded to the Speedway gas station at 404 E. Dundee Road just before 2 p.m. Sunday and were able to bring the fire under control in less than ten minutes, according to officials.

Hicks Road was shut down in both directions north of Dundee as firefighters stretched hoses across the road from the nearest hydrant, officials said.

By the time firefighters arrived, the fire was being controlled by the building’s automatic sprinkler system and the shop was evacuated.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but the back storage room was damaged, according to fire officials.

The Arlington Heights Fire Department assisted at the scene.
