Early morning fire damages Des Plaines businesses
Des Plaines firefighters put out a fire on the north facade of a small strip mall Sunday morning.
Des Plaines fire Capt. Scott Pierson said a passer-by saw flames shooting from the roof of 675 N. Wolf, a four-unit strip shopping center. Firefighters received a call at 5:08 a.m. and arrived eight minutes later.
The fire was extinguished within a half-hour and there were no injuries, Pierson said. Damages are estimated at $25,000, he added.
The cause is still under investigation.
Twenty firefighters in 10 vehicles responded. An engine from the Mount Prospect Fire Department assisted, Pierson said.
