Buffalo Grove man charged with sex assault

Bail was set at $250,000 Saturday for a Buffalo Grove man charged with felony criminal sexual assault.

According to written police statements taken from the now 17-year-old victim, Phil Kalas, 42, forcibly fondled and had sex a girl over a yearlong period, when she was between the ages of 15 and 16.

Cook County Judge Joel Greenbatt set Kalas’ bail at $250,000 on the condition that if released, he would not come in contact with any minors under the age of 18.

Kalas has no prior criminal history, according to prosecutors. His next court date is at 9 a.m. May 24 in Rolling Meadows.
