Moms treated like queens at Holy Family Academy
Westminster Abbey in London isn't the only place where colorful hats are in fashion. The kindergarten classes at Holy Family Academy in Inverness planned a Mother's Day event fit for a queen!
On Thursday, the school's multitorium was filled with almost 50 kindergarten moms for a Mother's Day Tea.
“This is such a special tradition that dates back to the beginning of our school in 2002 when we only had 29 students in the entire school,” said Dr. Gretchen Ludwig, principal at Holy Family Academy.
The guests of honor were presented with colorful, homemade hats made of giant coffee filters and enjoyed a medley of songs performed by their eager and doting children.
“This is my third child going through kindergarten, and I wouldn't miss this for the world,” stated Dina Lanzi, mother of three boys at the Academy. “Believe it or not, I keep all of these mementos, and will be back next year with my daughter!”
Juliana Falato, kindergarten teacher, stated, “We started preparing for our Mother's Day Tea a couple of weeks ago and the excitement grew as we got closer to the special day.”
The mothers were also presented with a special Kindergarten Cookbook containing such mouth-watering recipes as “Chocolate Chip Cookies with Chiles” baked to perfection in a 5° oven and a hand-drawn portrait, suitable for framing. “These are the things that are priceless to a mom,” stated Andrea Farrell with her son, Charlie.
As Cheryl Russo, kindergarten teacher and creator of this tradition said, “It's clear that the most cherished gifts these moms receive are the heart felt hugs and smiles of their children.”
