Need leaders with smarts and guts
The main concern of the country should be to reduce budget bloat so we are not spending beyond our means. The Congress and several presidents have treated excess spending as normal and of no concern and that the money would somehow magically appear.
Our country badly needs leadership that we are not getting. I read that true leadership is a superior grasp of the facts. I think this is about half right. Additionally, the person involved must have the guts to follow through and create legislation that calls for a budget that is within the revenues expected by our government. If the president or the person in Congress sees that we are spending beyond our means, he must have the determination to charge into the situation and aggressively explain that we can’t pass a budget that we have no ability to spend within.
There constantly are situations where a lot of money could be spent by Congress and several presidents have made an increasing habit of voting to spend more money than we have coming in. Real leadership calls for leading a debate against doing this no matter who are for it. We need people in a voting position who won’t give the country away just to get elected again.
Our present Congress has too many ties to lobbyists who work for large corporations who have money to spend to control legislation that supports the profits and waste of corporations. These people are not leaders and they cost the country a lot of money.
