Death came too easily for bin Laden
It was appalling to hear the president say justice was served by the killing of Osama bin Laden. Have we lost a sense of what justice really is? Bin Laden reportedly was killed by a bullet to the head. This is a merciful quick death. The victims of 9/11 were not so fortunate. They long suffered the anticipation of their fate, and physical pain that caused some to jump from high up in the towers to their death.
Is the death of bin Laden really justice served? Are we getting the whole truth of the event from the administration? Can it be that bin Laden outlived his usefulness to al-Qaida, which allowed a Judas to arise from their ranks? His demise would make way for younger, more aggressive leadership and give al-Qaida a new rallying point for recruiting members, and for more aggressive violence.
If a deal was made with this Judas, was one of the conditions that bin Laden be killed immediately and mercifully, and the body disposed of in a way acceptable to Islam? This is the way the reported evidence points. Given the household setting and the reported circumstances of the event, it seems likely the Navy SEALs could have taken him alive, if it were planned that way. It may have been easier than carrying out his dead body. Our SEALs are highly trained professionals that are committed to following orders.
I feel cheated, not only for myself, but for the mourners of the victims of 9/11. Bin Laden should have been brought to justice and left to agonize over his fate in prison.
